Moor running fast after a dry spell

The greenkeeper reports the tops firm and quick after a fortnight of dry weather — running approaches, keen greens, and no excuses.

Expect the moor to play short off the tee and long in the legs. Bring your wits and your wedge, because the ball's chasing on every landing and the greens won't hold a lazy strike.

The bunkers have been raked back to their proper faces and the winter's wear on the sixth has healed over nicely. This is about as good as the moor gets — make the most of it before the weather remembers what county it's in.
