Overview

The wind does the talking and the heather keeps the score. Free-running fairways thread the moor between gorse and outcrop, with greens that reward a brave line and punish a lazy one. No two rounds play the same.

  1. 01The Tops

    Par 4398 yds

    An honest opener straight out onto the moor — wind in your face, heather either side.

  2. 02Long Drag

    Par 5512 yds

    A proper three-shotter uphill across open moor; keep your head down and grind it out to the top.

  3. 03Gorse Gully

    Par 4415 yds

    Yellow death down both sides. Keep it straight or bring a few spare balls.

  4. 04Stone Cross

    Par 3182 yds

    A short iron to a shelf green guarded by an old boundary wall — be brave, be precise, or be in the heather.

  5. 05Brackenside

    Par 4441 yds

    Sweeping left through the bracken, this honest two-shotter rewards a long drive and punishes a lazy one.

  6. 06Windy Gap

    Par 4388 yds

    Into the prevailing gale, this 'short' hole has ruined more cards than any other.

  7. 07The Long Moor

    Par 5524 yds

    The card's biggest beast — three full blows across the open tops, with the wind picking your pocket all the way.

  8. 08Crow's Nest

    Par 3168 yds

    A high tee, a deep drop, and a small green far below; club it wrong and the crows keep your ball.

    A blind drive over the ridge, then a long iron to a green cut into the rock.

  10. 10Drystone

    Par 4420 yds

    Turning for home along an old drystone wall — thread your drive past it and the green opens up nicely.

    Down into the dip and up the other side; a tidy two-shotter where the brave line saves a stroke.

    Nothing but brooding sky behind the flag — a mid-iron that looks simple until the wind has its say.

    The signature: a brute of a two-shotter to a green perched above the valley. Par's a birdie up here.

  14. 14Valley View

    Par 4446 yds

    The valley falls away to the right and so will a weak fade — hug the moor side and trust your line.

  15. 15The Bilberry

    Par 4392 yds

    A dogleg through the bilberry banks; take it on if you dare, lay back if you've any sense.

  16. 16Devil's Pulpit

    A wee shot to a green raised on rock with trouble all round — pure nerve, no margin, no mercy.

    Long, exposed and rarely downwind — three good blows and you've earned your pie.

  18. 18Last Orders

    Downhill to the clubhouse with the bar in sight. Finish strong, you've earned the pint.
